Actually old Bad Brains kick ass. They pretty much suck now. Old Bad Brains was great. Like the album "I against I". That was smoking shit. Now they play full out regge (sp) or whatever its called. Not mixed with rock. Not old Police style but Bob Marley style. I just cant get next to it. If you break Nirvana down to its substance and forget about their tone what their songs are, are basically just like Beatles songs. Propaganster, if you dont instantly see that then just sit back and think about it for a few minutes and maybe listen to them again. I am confident that you will. The early Police was kick ass too. The first three albums. Especially the first one. I saw them on the tour for the third album. XTC opened the show. The Police kicked ass. Ive seen Corrosion of Conformity. They opened for Iron Maiden in the early 90s. They were good. Helmet was ok. Apparantly they couldnt sustain what they had though. But I would just like to say that everything is better than Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, and Bad Company. Although I must admit that in the 70s Bad Company sounded good but have you listened to them lately? Can you honestly say you can stay awake for the whole side of a Bad Company record? So I just want to say fuck Eric Clapton. Fuck Bad Company. But most of all fuck Pink Floyd. They suck. Thank god they stopped putting out records. We can only hope for no more re-issues.

I hadn't really thought of that, but yeah, I hear ya. But I have to be honest and admit that I actually know fairly little about the Beatles. I do know Pink Floyd somewhat more. I know I mostly cannot stand it. What's the infatuation about? Some songs are repetitive and carry on for so long, with some motifs played over and over and over again... damn, no sleeping pill could work that well for me than some of their songs. Now, they do have songs I liked, but there are few.

Dont take this as a belittlement of them because Ive never even heard them so I have no idea if Id like them or not. Avril Lavigne is 23 years old and she has recorded 3 albums. She has sold over 36 million records. I will have a look on youtube and if there is any Mana I will check it out. BTW I dont mean to suggest that selling a lot of records is any indication at all of how good a band is. Generally the shittier bands tend to sell the more records and the best musicians rarely sell a huge amount of records.

Mana probably didnt make much if any money on those 4 gigs. Big concerts arent money makers. The reason bands do them is because it sells records. You can make money playing small gigs like from large clubs up to venues of maybe 3000 seats. 5000 at the most. That is if you fill them up. But arena gigs dont make much profit. Sometimes none at all. If you dont do them you wont sell a lot of records though.

Nevertheless, they are quite good.They play everything from hard rock to catchy dance music.But what makes them unique is, well, they have a "sound" which is uniquely their own.If you heard one of their new songs come on the radio and didn`t know it was by them, you would probably be able to guess it was by Man by their unique sound. Their most popular "dance" tune, because the melody is so catchy, is "Oye Mi Amor" (Listen My Love).That`s probably everyone`s favorite -- though it`s not really representative of their style.They are sort of like The Beatles the way their music is everything from bubblegum dance music to eerie rock, if you know what I mean.

The music is all in one language. Only the vocals can be in different languages although even vocals dont necessarily have to be in any language.

Not that new at this point, but I do like "Kiss Me Again (Stuttering)" by Ben's Brother. And currently the internet is enamored of "Caramelldansen" by Caramell. It's a Swedish techno-pop song that alot of people are using in incredibly simplistic AMVs (really, they tend to use about 2 frames repeated over and over, but it never gets old). The original version of the song seems a bit harder to come by than the "Speedycake Remix," but I downloaded both yesterday. Um... there are probably any number of good songs out there right now, stuff you could see on VH1 or MTV or wherever. I'm really liking the video for "Walking on Air" by Kerli, and I think I could very much get into "How I Could Just Kill A Man" by Charlotte Sometimes. There's probably lots of others I should mention, I need to get back into the habit of watching music video channels more often, I'm afraid I've been falling slightly out of touch with current popular music, which I must remedy....
