Among the loyal, that is considered an "easter egg". When the story is told in Wrath of Khan, Shatner is eating an apple much to the horror of his
son who wonders why he can be so calm at such a difficult time.
FED!!! It's so good to see you! Yes, that's right.
(note, he's contacting the ship, pretty well at the end of apple eating. Also, Shatner's teeth might not have been the best because we never got the
full on "bite the apple" shot we got with Pine...)
The writers of this movie are huge Star Trek geeks and they made sure to pay tribute to both the series and the movies as often as possible.

I ordered that a couple weeks ago from a box of frosted flakes. It hasn't come yet, and in fact my check hasn't been cashed yet. I'm also thinking
of ordering a t-shirt from a box of some other cereal. I suppose if I'm gonna do it I should do it, like, now. Well, today's payday, so I have some
money. Might as well.... I just thought I'd prefer to wait til the first thing I ordered came, but I may not have time to do that, it seems.
Since I don't have a flash drive, I'm looking forward to it. How cool is it that the very first flash drive I'll ever own in my life is a Star
Trek flash drive?!
Tek ni, the order form says: "Allow 90 days from receipt of order. To check on your order status, go to Kelloggs.com/specialorders."

We have been trying to get the cheap plastic badges....lots of Romulan, Engineering, and Klingon. As yet no Command or Science...its driving my kids nuts.
It's CHEEZE ITS...not Cheetos....I'm bad at the cheesy crunch fake food....
I got one badge...it was Klingon. As the Klingons were cut from the movie....**sigh**
Guy, flash drives are great! After a disastrous experience with an external hard drive, I'll be using flash drives for all my data storage from now on.
I've never used a flash drive, myself, so I look forward to getting this. But also recently I saw that there's a wristwatch with a flash drive, which
is like the Star Trek one, except it's a watch, not just a band. And it has nothing to do with Star Trek. And it's more expensive and I think had more
storage space and um it's probably alot better in every way. But I can't afford it now. Also I'm not sure what I'd put on a flash drive. But
still it'll be nice to have the Trek one. I hope it has an engineering emblem, I think they have different emblems and which one you get is just random,
but of course my fanfic character Jax is an engineer...
I have a box of frosted mini-wheats I finished eating awhile ago, and I've been holding onto the box to order the shirt. I spent more of my pay yesterday
than I would've liked, so I'm apprehensive about the thought of ordering this right now, but if I don't, I suppose I never will. Dammit,
there's always stuff I want to get and never enough money. I can't tell you how much I hate the fact that it's practically impossible to save even
$5 from week to week, so I have literally no life savings, while everyone around me seems to have more money than I do, because they clearly spend more than I
do... they have cars where I don't, they have nicer tech (phones, mp3 players, etc), they have social lives, go on trips, etc. And they're always
worried about money, just like I am... but if they lived like I do, they'd be practically millionaires by now, I'm sure. Working at the same damn place
I do.
I resent everything in life and want to die. But this is getting grossly off topic, and I apologize.
I just checked the status of my order and it isn't in the system yet. I'm not going to order the shirt at least until the flash drive is in the system.
A couple of companies make wrist watch flash drives. I guess it's cool to hide your memory sticks....I've seen them from 256 MB (small) to 4G (pretty
big). 1G is a pretty good size flash drive for that price. You can store all your pictures on your flash drive. I think you can export your favorites to your
flash drive...lots of things.
I was in Fry's tonight, and I couldn't pass on the temptation to pick up a 1 GB flash drive for $5.99.
My friend tells me that Rice Krispies cereal has a Star Trek communicator in the box. Batteries make them light up. Apparently there are Romulan and
Vulcan communicators, and perhaps other types as well.

I should mention that a few days ago my check for the flash drive wrist band finally went through, but I'm not sure when I'll actually receive
the thing. Sadly, it's too late to order a shirt I think, but I don't mind so much. It's not like I'd ever have occasion to wear the thing.
meanwhile, I recently got a box of Star Trek cereal from Kelloggs... which is basically like Lucky Charms....
I went to my local comic book store today and picked up Star Trek: Countdown -- the graphic novel
prequel to the new Star Trek movie which Tek ni mentioned earlier.
JJ Abrams was involved with the story in some manner as he is credited on the backcover, but his exact role isn't explained:
JJ Abrams, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Mike Johnson, Tim Jones and David Messina present the origin of Nero, the mysterious Romulan who will ultimately
threaten the survival of the entire universe. Don't miss this story that brings STAR TREK back to the big
screen!
The inside cover contains a long list of credits, including "Story: Roberto Orci and ALex Kurtzman" -- but Abrams is not listed on that page.
My flash drive came today. Took me awhile to figure out how to use it. I thought from what the instructions said that an icon would appear on my desktop or
task tray. It's pretty clear I think that that's supposed to happen, but it didn't. I suppose I could have misunderstood. Whatever, I did find that
I can use Windows Explorer to open the content on the flash drive, which is Drive G, I guess. And I can open stuff I have on the computer and save it to drive
G. I'm not quite sure what to put on the thing... it only seems to matter if you want to save things from one computer and load them onto a different
computer, which isn't likely to often be possible for me, since it's rare that I have access to more than one computer. Maybe I could save the chapters
of my book onto it or something....
It's also a good place to put copies of stuff you'd hate to lose in a computer crash. Just keep the flash drive safe! As it has no working parts,
it's not subject to crashing the way a normal hard drive is.
